Local pianist/composer Tom Kimmance studied at Liverpool University with John Gough and gained the highest mark on record for an undergraduate solo performance. Subsequently he has had the benefit of master classes with Gil Sullivan, Stephen Hough and Joanna McGregor.

In addition to solo piano recitals and concerto performances, Tom teaches piano and music theory at High Notes Music School and lectures on musical form and musical history at various other schools.

In between his performance work and his teaching work, Tom is also a composer. He recently completed his first Piano Sonata in A Major, and is currently working on a Piano Concerto. His concert in Hoylake will end with his own Paraphrase on La Traviata.
